Join Seamless Bay Area for Bay to Breakers 2022 — a fun day to dress up, celebrate transit, and support our work!

Lace up your running shoes and put on your best transit-themed costume — it’s time for the first Bay to Breakers in three years, and Seamless Bay Area is calling on everyone who loves transit to join the fun! The countdown is on for one of San Francisco’s most iconic races across the city on May 15, 2022 and we need the help of the Seamless community to dress up as all 27 transit agencies that operate across the Bay Area.  Join the transit cohort team by reserving a ticket on our Eventbrite page!

Bay to Breakers is a longstanding San Francisco celebration, with a 7.5 mile route from the San Francisco Bay to the breakers on Ocean Beach, a tradition to dress-up in costume, and an inclusive culture where people participate for any amount of the route.

‘How will we do that?’ you ask. 

Seamless Bay Area is looking for at least 27 transit lovers eager to run, walk, or roll across San Francisco to raise funds for their favorite transit advocacy organization (that’s us!) dressed as their favorite transit agency.  We’ll aim to travel as a group from the Embarcadero by the San Francisco Bay to the Great Highway, where the breakers meet Ocean Beach.

‘Running? You’re funny!’ you chuckle quietly to yourself.

Not a runner? No problem. Walkers, wheelchair users, or people with other accessibility needs are welcome to join for all or part of the 7.45-mile route - just let us know your access needs when you sign up. Plus, there are other ways to get involved! We need support from the creative, the crafty, the hyper-organized, and everyone who is down to have a great time! Specifically, we’ll need help designing and creating incredible transit-themed costumes, setting up fundraising tools for our runners, and support promoting SBA’s role at Bay to Breakers and coordinating all of our day-of activities, including an after party for all of our participants!

Seamless Bay Area’s mission is to transform the Bay Area’s fragmented and inconvenient public transit into a world-class, unified, equitable and widely-used system by building a diverse movement for change. Bay to Breakers is the perfect opportunity to have a whole lot of fun and showcase our collective love of transit across 9 of San Francisco’s most notable neighborhoods. Join us at Bay to Breakers on May 15, 2022 as we come together to celebrate San Francisco and the transportation that gets us across the Bay Area!

Where do I sign up?

Sign up on our Eventbrite page to indicate whether you want Seamless to provide a costume to you for $25, or whether you’ll be making your own. On the form you can also pick which transit agency to dress up as.
