This Friday: Transit Month Community Grant Applications due!

Bay Area Transit Month is coming up this September! During Transit Month community organizations, transit agencies, and others host a variety of fun events, rallies, and socials to bring the transit community together and celebrate the public transit in our region.

We’re offering grants of $500-$1,000 to community-based organizations to help cover the costs associated with planning and hosting Transit Month events. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 26th at 11:59pm. The application should only take a few minutes and the criteria for grants are listed in the form. Apply now and help spread the word to organizations who would be interested in this grant!

July Volunteer Opportunities

❗Last call to join the Seamless Bay Area and Transbay Coalition team at the Santa Clara County Fair. We’ll be advocating for a well-integrated, better funded, and more seamless transit system for the entire Bay Area. We are especially looking for volunteers to join us on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. If you want to come during a time not included, list your availabilities using the “Other” option.

Additionally, we will be tabling outside the Giant’s vs. A’s game at Oracle Park on July 30th.

Employee Matching Program

Did you know that your employer may match donations to Seamless Bay Area Alliance, our affiliated 501(c)3, and double its impact? Companies that match employee donations include Apple, Adobe, Bank of America, Cisco, Disney, Google, Netflix, Wells Fargo, and many others.

If you work at a company with an employee matching program and would be willing to help get a Seamless Bay Area donation page set up internally through your company, please respond to this email and we will be in contact soon!

Employee matching programs have been an important funding source that helps sustain our work fighting for an improved, integrated, rider-first transit system. Over the past year, we have made some huge progress in expanding integrated fares, securing funding to avoid transit service cuts, and laying the groundwork for a transformational regional measure.

Public comment on MTC’s draft Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan

MTC has released a draft plan outlining the Bay Area’s near-term transportation blueprint for people with disabilities, older adults, and low-income populations. The plan calls for developing new policies for region wide funding sources, accessible infrastructure improvements, and reinforcing accessibility items currently being implemented as part of other near-term regional plans such as the establishment of “Mobility Managers” in each county, paratransit improvements, and filling equity gaps.

To learn more about the draft plan, read our latest blog post that summarizes the recommendations and links to the full draft plan.

The public comment period is open till August 7th at 5pm. You can submit your feedback in the following three ways:
