Support Fare Integration at SFMTA
In 2022, leaders at the SFMTA will meet to decide whether to adopt two new ideas which will make it cheaper to travel long distances using Muni and other public transit. Seamless Bay Area supports the adoption of these ideas as part of our campaign for Fare Integration; with the aim to deliver a unified, equitable fare system that would make transit easier to understand, attract more riders, and expand affordable access to housing and jobs.
How you can help
If you support these ideas you can help us convince SFMTA leaders to adopt them. There are a few ways you can help:
In two minutes: Read about the ideas and sign the petition at the bottom of this page
In ten minutes: Share a story of how these changes would impact your life
In 90 minutes: Sign up to speak at a Zoom meeting, and tell SFMTA leaders what you think
Idea # 1 - An all-agency transit pass
In 2022, a transit pass which allows free travel across the entire Bay Area using public transit will be offered to schools and low income housing providers. If you are a student at a participating school, or a resident of a provider who participates in the program, you will be able to try this new transit pass. If the pilot goes well, the pass will later be offered to employers and other groups who want to purchase them in bulk.
Idea # 2 - Free and discounted Transfers
Muni will also pilot a program which makes it cheaper to travel beyond San Francisco, by offering a discount when you ride Muni plus other transit brands in a single trip.
