4/22/24: Did you see our Op-Ed in the Mercury News? Plus, SB 1031 Launch Party This Friday 4/26.
This week is a big week for Seamless Bay Area and the future of Bay Area transit!
SB 1031, The Connect Bay Area Act, goes to its first hearings in Sacramento on Tuesday, and we have our Launch Party for the bill on Friday, April 26th at 6pm in San Francisco with Senator Scott Wiener. Don’t forget to RSVP today for Friday’s celebration! Plus we’ve got other in-person East Bay events planned for early May we hope you will join us for.
Check out our Op-Ed in Mercury News and East Bay Times: Make Bay Area transit seamless as a condition of new funding.
Yesterday’s Mercury News and East Bay Times published Seamless Bay Area Policy Director Ian Griffiths’s case in support of SB1031 and why it’s our best hope for transit transformation. By pairing new funds to increase service with reforms to improve transit coordination and governance, SB1031 forges a new path for Bay Area transit - with a message of change that will be needed to win the support of voters at the ballot box. Read Griffiths’ op-ed in the Mercury News and East Bay Times.
The Bay Area’s most transformative piece of public transit legislation is making its way through the state legislature. Come celebrate this monumental occasion with us and Senator Scott Wiener at our Connect Bay Area Act Launch Party, this Friday from 6-8pm.
Come learn how you can support this milestone for Bay Area transit and how you can help support our work pushing for a 2026 regional ballot measure! Attendance is free but we encourage you to make a donation to help sustain our movement for a well-coordinated, and well-funded regional transportation system. Light food and refreshments will be provided - so bring your friends, family, and fellow transit enthusiasts along!
Around 7:30pm we’ll hear from Senator Wiener and our other esteemed guest speakers of the night. Seamless Bay Area Co-Executive Directors Ian Griffiths and Adina Levin will share how reforms included in the bill will be crucial for creating a rider-first transit system for all Bay Area residents.
Read our blog posts recapping the most recent amendments that have been added to the bill and why we strongly support SB 1031.
