6/16/24: Influence statewide transit policy | SF Happy Hour Event

Bay Area residents have an exciting opportunity to make seamless transit a focus of state transportation policy on Monday. Plus, join us for a June 27th San Francisco Happy Hour. Finally, we’ve got new blog posts on efforts to transform El Camino Real into a multi-modal corridor and the region’s renewed transportation plan for older adults and people with disabilities.

June 17th, 8-10am – Ride-Along to the CA Transit Transformation Task Force (TTTF) Meeting with Task Force members

Join Bay Area transit riders and TTTF members for a ride-along to the SB 125 Task Force meeting in San Francisco. The TTTF is a huge opportunity for the state to identify funding recommendations, governance reforms, and other changes needed to grow transit ridership across our state, and within our region.

It’s important for TTTF members to hear from riders about their experiences and the specific challenges of transit in the Bay Area. The ride-along will also include hearing from agency staff about the ongoing initiatives to develop regional fare policy, transit priority, accessibility initiatives, funding actions, and address other key challenges.

This ride-along is organized by Seamless Bay Area, Public Advocates, San Francisco Transit Riders, Senior and Disability Action, and others.

Can you believe it’s been three years since our last 2021 happy hour at Shotwell’s parklet, shown in this image?

We are excited to be teaming up with Jeff Wood from the Overhead Wire and host of Talking Headways Podcast for another community-building Thursday transit-themed happy hour - this time at Shotwell’s in SF’s Mission District! The location has a beautiful outdoor parklet, accessible for all ages, however the interior of the bar is for 21+ only. All are welcome!

Shotwell’s is located a convenient 0.6 mile walk or roll from either the 16th and 24th St BART stations, is near several BayWheels stations, and several bus lines.

New from our Blog:

MTC renewing transit plan for people with disabilities, older adults, low-income individuals

A draft of the Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan is set to be released by MTC, outlining the Bay Area’s near-term transportation blueprint for people with disabilities, older adults, and low-income populations. This plan addresses the challenges with funding gaps, accessible transit infrastructure, and reinforces other near-term regional plans.

El Camino Real event highlights bus improvements, bike lanes, affordable housing

On May 11th, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition hosted a bike ride and poster session on El Camino Real to highlight bike lanes, pedestrian improvements, transit speed, and affordable housing projects and plans in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. The poster session showed only a fraction of the many changes happening along the corridor, which is evolving according to a vision created nearly two decades ago to transform an auto-oriented corridor with more sustainable, multi-modal transportation and with walkable, mixed use development.
