6/10/24: Transit Ride-Along, Happy Hour, and Advocacy this month!
Looking for ways to fulfill your transit enthusiasm this month? Read on to learn about these three June events to keep you in the loop about all things Bay Area (and California) transit.
June 12th: Speak up in support of regional measure and seamless transit at Special MTC workshop
Last week we got the news that the bill authorizing a regional transportation funding measure (SB 1031, Wiener/Wahab) had been pulled from this year’s legislative cycle to allow more time for stakeholders to build agreement.
A regional measure still remains essential and the bill authors now intend to introduce a new bill in 2025.
This Wednesday, MTC will have a workshop discussing the various stakeholder concerns that were raised with SB1031 so that a future bill will garner the broad support needed to win at the 2026 ballot box. Riders need to speak up at this meeting so elected officials know their needs remain unmet – more funding, coordination, and reforms are needed to achieve a rider-friendly system.

June 17th, 8-10am – Ride-Along to the CA Transit Transformation Task Force (TTTF) Meeting
Join Bay Area transit riders and TTTF members for a ride-along to the SB 125 Task Force meeting in San Francisco. The TTTF is California’s biggest foray into statewide public transportation policy recommendations such as developing benchmarks for service levels, funding recommendations, governance reforms, and other changes needed to grow transit ridership.
TTTF members need to hear from riders about their experience and the specific challenges of transit in the Bay Area. Participants will also hear from agency staff about the ongoing initiatives to develop regional fare policy, transit priority, accessibility, funding, and address other key challenges.
This ride-along is organized by Seamless Bay Area, Public Advocates, San Francisco Transit Riders, Senior and Disability Action, and others.
June 27th, 5:30pm – Transit Happy Hour at Shotwell’s in San Francisco
Join us at Shotwell’s in SF’s Mission District for a transit-themed happy hour - we expect to be able to confirm other co-hosting groups and special guests soon!
Shotwell’s has both an indoor bar and an outdoor parklet. It’s located a 0.6 mile walk or roll from either the 16th and 24th St BART stations, is near several BayWheels stations, and several bus lines.
